Vegan Diet: Boon or Bane

In today’s fast paced world , some people are completely careless about their eating habits whereas some are too careful. The history of dieting began long back. To put it mildly, dieting wasn't really a concern for our ancestors. For them, the main problem was getting more carbs, fat, and sugar into their systems, not less. That's why, in all of human history, the first person to go on a recorded weight-loss diet was England's first king, William I {Better known as William the Conqueror.}

Broadly, there are two types of people in this world: vegetarians and non-vegetarians who choose to follow different lifestyle and eating habits. The most popular is the vegan diet. DO NOT CONFUSE IT WITH VEGETARIANISM!

Vegetarians do not eat any animals. This includes pigs, chickens, cows, sea animals, and every other animal. In addition to not consuming any animal flesh, a vegan (strict vegetarian) also doesn't eat dairy products, eggs, or any other product derived from an animal.

Though people lose weight through this in a matter of weeks, they fail to understand they are keeping their bodies aloof from many essential nutrients.here are a few examples:

A) Vegan diets do not provide fat-soluble vitamins A and D
B) Vegan diets are deficient in vitamin B12 and iron

Like vitamin A, D and K2, the readily-absorbed form of vitamin B12 and iron is found only in animal sources (are you seeing a pattern here?). Testing with the most up-to-date methods show that 83% of vegans are B12 deficient, compared to 5% of omnivores.

Creatine helps form an energy reservoir in cells. Studies show that vegans are deficient in creatine, which has harmful effects on muscle and brain function.

Carnosine is protective against various degenerative processes in the body and may protect against aging. It is found only in animal foods. Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA) is the most active form of Omega-3 fatty acids in the body and primarily found in animal foods. The plant form of Omega-3s, ALA, is inefficiently converted to DHA in the body.

Humans are omnivores. We function best eating both animals and plants.The best diets are those with the greatest variety of nutrients and without dietary limitations.I believe that a balanced diet is the key solution to weight loss . if one wishes to reduce weight, then one must exercise and not aloof from eating certain type of foods.
